A team of seven Griffith Enactus members travelled to Sydney from the 3rd to the 5th of July to compete in the Enactus National Conference and Competition. The conference and competition provides an opportunity for Enactus teams from universities throughout Australia to demonstrate their projects and achievements from the last year.

The Griffith Enactus team at the 2013 National Conference was led by President Lauren Griffin and Faculty Advisor Kim Holmes. The team included Daniel Wilson, Manager for the Enactus Nationals Team, Elise Stephenson, Vice President of Mental Health First Aid, Brigid Buckley, Vice President of Public Relations and Co-Nationals Manager, Caleb De Leon, Media Manager, and Ben Rankin, Branding Manager.

As stated on the Enactus Australia website, Enactus is “a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world.” Within Griffith, Griffith Enactus is a club run to provide a platform for students to engage and volunteer in key projects of local, national, and international relevance.

This year we undertook three major projects, partnering with over 25 community organisations, with 81 active students, almost 4000 hours committed, and over 10 000 people directly impacted. Our projects included providing free Mental Health First Aid for Youth workshops to key non-profit community based organisations; collaborating with The Schoolbag, a non-profit organisation founded by previous Enactus President Chris Eigeland; and Innovate Media, which provides digital and creative services to sustainably revitalise the social media, digital presence and brand of non-profit organisations.

For the Griffith Enactus team, the conference was a success as we achieved our goals of representing Griffith at a national level and were able to demonstrate the positive impact and achievements of our projects. We are proud of all that we have managed and are hoping to continue to build on our successes and present at the Enactus National Conference and Competition when it comes to Brisbane in 2014.
